Some Things I’ve Discovered About Emotions
As I’ve mentioned before, I haven’t always been on friendly terms with my emotions. Since I began my personal growth journey in 2004, I’ve grown and learned so much. Now I couldn't imagine my life without the beauty and richness that my emotions add to it. I thought I’d share some of the things I’ve learned on my journey with the hope of it helping you in yours.
Some things I’ve discovered about emotions...
~They’re messy and uncomfortable.
~They can add depth and richness to life.
~They need space to be felt and processed.
~Some of them take you to places you don’t want to go but need to.
~We all have them on some level.
~They can hide under each other, making it a challenge to nail down exactly what you’re feeling.
~They are a blessing that feels like a curse sometimes.
~They ebb and flow.
~They will always come out whether by building up and eventually exploding or in the manner you choose to express them.
~They can be great motivators or halt progress completely depending upon how you handle them.
~They are multifaceted and full of layers.
~They can be understood and be very helpful.
~They are trying to tell you something.
While this list isn’t exhaustive, it might be a good jumping-off point to understand your own emotions (whether for the first time or going deeper into a familiar journey).
Did any of them stand out to you? Did you think of something about your own emotions that didn’t make it onto my list?
If so, comment below and let me know. I’d love to hear what you’ve learned about your own emotions.
